St. Martin's Church

A beautiful church featuring exquisite stained-glass windows.

A stunning church with a wealth of history behind it

St. Martin’s Church was built in 1878 and is the only church designed by architect Philip Webb. He intended the building to reflect the history of Brampton, which explains the church’s fortress-like appearance and battlemented parapets.

The church’s beautiful stained-glass windows were designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones and manufactured by William Morris. St. Martin’s has been described as a ‘remarkable building, windows glowing with gem-stone colours’ by historian Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.
