Enjoy Some Fantastic Outdoor Activities

The Itinerary

Brampton is lucky to have some incredible centres for outdoor activity on its doorstep, with more exciting options than you could cram into a day. If you’re pushed for time, try this combo to really get the best out of the area in a short space of time.

Take to the Water at Talkin Tarn

Talkin Adventures

If you’re interested in outdoor adventures, water sports and physical activities, you’ll love Talkin Adventures. This independent adventure company runs private group sessions on Talkin Tarn, including paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, archery and more. Whether you’re new to the whole concept, or have your own wetsuit ready to go, they have taster sessions to give you a feel for the open water, or to try your hand at a new sport.

If you’d prefer to keep your feet dry and your heart rate a little lower, there are some fantastic walks around the tarn, with miles of footpaths locally. You can also hire a rowing boat, if you love the water, but would prefer a more comfortable craft to ride in.

Brampton Golf Course

Ready to tee off? Dating back to 1909, and described by Golf World as “the jewel of Cumbria”, Brampton Golf Course is a wonderful place to work on your handicap. Part of the Association of James Braid Courses, the club offers a fair test for any level of golfer, with a par of 72 or 74, all with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Furthermore, the excellent drainage means that the course remains usable year round. A sporting challenge in a beautiful setting makes this course perfect for keen players.

By this point hunger may be kicking in. Luckily, the fantastic Braid Clubhouse offers a rustic, high-quality menu for a substantial lunch, should you need refuelling before or after tee-off, as well as a licensed bar. You can even visit the onsite pro shop, should you need to upgrade your gear, or dress the part. If golf is a guiding passion or just a passing interest, it’s a great place to try.

Test Your Skill at New Mills

New Mills Trout Fishing Park

A must-see for anglers, the New Mills Trout Fishing Park offers keen fishers and beginners the chance to experience the thrill of the catch. With great options for all levels of experience, you can be sure to find something to enjoy. Fun fishing for all the family, along with equipment hire, means that if you’ve always been curious about angling but nervous to try, now’s your chance!

If you’re already a dab hand at this, the onsite fly fishing is registered to Troutmasters, is stream fed with pristine water, and has specimens up to 20lb to really test your skill level. With one-to-one tuition options, twilight fishing and disabled accessibility options, the sport of fishing is open to everyone. The holiday accommodation and glamping onsite can also provide a perfect base for exploring the rest of the area, should you have had enough physical activity for one day. The park makes for a relaxing afternoon out, even if you’re not a dab hand with a rod.

A Huge Variety

If you have an adventurous spirit, and prefer a roof of sky to a day indoors, there is plenty for you to do around Brampton. Have a look around some of the great attractions in the area, and you will surely find plenty of entertainment.
